Israel seeks lifting of arrest warrant for Netanyahu after suspension of attorney general

Following the suspension of the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Israel’s ambassador to the UN requested the withdrawal of the arrest warrant for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Ambassador Danny Dannon said on platform X that this suspension confirms the “rottenness” of the institution, and that the time has come to cancel the “absurd charges” against the Israeli leader.

Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan was suspended due to allegations of sexual misconduct against a female colleague, which he strongly denies and announces his return to office after an investigation.

We remind you that in 2024, Khan issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu on suspicion of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.

During this two-year conflict, in which tens of thousands of people died, Israel faced constant accusations of war crimes and genocide in the international public.
