Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians trying to return to their homes in the northern Gaza Strip, killing at least one person, while Hamas accused Israel of delaying the implementation of the terms of a ceasefire agreement.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is blocking the return of Palestinians because of Hamas’ delay in freeing a captured civilian woman. The dispute arose when the truce between the two sides entered its second week, and on Saturday four Israeli female soldiers were exchanged for 200 Palestinians.
In the occupied West Bank, Israeli soldiers continued a large-scale military operation in and near the city of Jenin, killing at least two people, including a two-year-old girl.
At least 47,283 Palestinians have been killed and 111,472 wounded in Israeli military attacks on Gaza since October 7, 2023.
At least 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks that day, and more than 200 were captured.
