A senior Iranian military official said on Tuesday that continued hostilities with the United States are inevitable, while talks between Tehran and Washington appear to be at a standstill.
– The United States of America demands our complete surrender, and the Iranian people will never surrender – said Mohammad Jafar Assadi, deputy commander of Iran’s Central Military Command, Khatam al-Anbiya. “Without surrender, war is inevitable.”
Meanwhile, Iran has not yet responded to a proposal for a final deal with the United States aimed at ending the conflict between the two countries, and discussions on the final text are still ongoing in Tehran, a source close to Iran’s negotiating team told the Mehr news agency on Tuesday.
The source said Iran is considering the proposal with caution because of what it believes is a history of US non-compliance with the deal and long-standing mistrust between the two sides.
– Based on previous experiences, Iran is looking for tangible and real benefits – the source said.
