Last week, the Independent Committee of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced a competition for the director of the Federal Police Administration (FUP).
The competition is open until December 18, and as Amar Hadžiomerović, the president of the Independent Board, told Faktor, the interviews should take place on January 12.
– I don’t expect that there will be enough candidates in the first round, because the problem is that a small number have that rank. So in the second round, when it is enough to be one candidate, there could only be an election, of course, if the candidate meets all the conditions – said Hadžiomerović.
Asked what to say about the Independent Committee’s request that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina initiate disciplinary proceedings against Vahidin Mujić, who was acting director of the FUP, after the Spangavanje affair, Hadžiomerović said that the deadline is one month and that the FBiH MUP must act on the Independent Committee’s request and inform them about it.
However, how Factor learns, Vahidin Munjić should retire on December 31 of this year.
The “Spengavanje” affair broke out after messages exchanged between the acting director of the FUP, Vahidin Munjić, and other high-ranking officials, including the federal prime minister, Nermin Nikšić, emerged in the public domain, mentioning influences on police investigations, agreements regarding staffing in public companies and possible political pressure on investigations.
The published correspondence raised suspicions that individuals from the top of the police and authorities were trying to “fix” affairs and direct potential criminal proceedings.
Because of this, the Prosecutor’s Office of FBiH launched an investigation, and the FUP and FMUP were the subject of searches, during which documentation and telephones of certain persons involved in the “Spengavanje” affair were seized.
Munjić was interrogated together with several officials of the FBiH Government and the FUP, involved in the “Spengavanje” affair, after which measures were imposed on them to prohibit them from performing their duties.
