Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday ahead of his upcoming visit to London, Brussels and Rome, which is related to negotiations on the peace process, the Prime Minister’s office announced.
Meloni emphasized Italy’s solidarity with Ukraine after the new wave of indiscriminate Russian attacks on civilian targets, and announced emergency aid in the form of equipment for energy infrastructure and the population. Generators provided by Italian companies will be delivered in the coming weeks.
The Prime Minister also confirmed her support for the current negotiations led by the United States of America with the aim of achieving a just and lasting peace. She praised Kyiv’s readiness for a constructive approach and called on Moscow to be equally open.
In the coming days, Zelenski will hold meetings with European leaders as part of consultations on ending the conflict that has lasted for almost four years.
