The judges explained that there were “reasonable motives” that the Supreme Taliban leader in Afghanistan, Abdul Hakim Hakani “committed, by assessing the humanity of persecution … girls and women associated with genus”.
“Although the Taliban introduced certain rules and prohibitions for all residents, especially target girls and women because of their gender, denying them so their fundamental rights and freedoms,” they pointed out.
The alleged crimes were committed between 15. Augusta 2021, when the Taliban took power, and at least 20. January this year.
The Taliban “severely denied” girls and women right to education, private and family life and freedom of movement, expression, opinions, conscience and religion.
“In addition, the target was other people because some expressions of sexuality and / or identities are considered incompatible with the Taliban policy when it comes to gender,” the judges rated.
