The Institute for Public Health of the FBiH supervises the flu and now is the peak of the season, which is noticeable in everyday life, there are a lot of people in hospitals who have complications caused by the flu.
Director of the FBiH Institute of Public Health Siniša Skočibušić pointed this out in today’s meeting with journalists and emphasized that it is important to keep in mind that the flu is not a harmless disease, that it causes complications, especially in the elderly and immunocompromised people, which can somehow be prevented by immunization.
“Unfortunately, in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the scope of immunization against influenza is not as large and wide as we would like it to be, and as much as it is in our neighborhood, among other things. Although we successfully distributed all the vaccine we procured for healthcare workers, primarily in the Federation. And all other health institutions procure vaccines, as do the governments of individual cantons, especially for the elderly population,” he emphasized.

When asked by a journalist about the number of health personnel in the Federation, Skočibušić says that the Institute has made a publication, or an analysis, related to that topic.
In fact, they wanted to draw attention to the fact that, unfortunately, the total number of health personnel in the Federation is in a slight decline on the one hand, and on the other hand, their age structure is even more worrying.
“Unfortunately, a large number of specialists are approaching retirement age, which needs to be compensated with quality staff, and it will be a big challenge because it is not easy to produce a specialist doctor, especially an experienced one.
Today, we also have a problem with secondary vocational education staff in the health sector, and I really invite all high school students and young people to respond, because being in health care has two meanings. One is to help people and have that added value, and the other is, of course, that it is your profession to make a living from it and create the future with it,” stressed director Skočibušić.
The already traditional reception of the Institute of Public Health of the FBiH for media representatives was attended today by the heads of sectors, services and departments of that institute and their colleagues. At the reception in the premises of the institute in Sarajevo, there was talk about the institute’s regular activities and projects, as well as the exchange of ideas and experiences in the context of strengthening cooperation, reports radiosarajevo.
