OSMI July 2025. The year will remain enrolled forever as the day that hope became a reality for hundreds of patients from multiple sclerosis (MS) in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Chance to start treatment
Namely, after many years of fighting, waiting list for immunomodulatory therapy – the key form of treatment of this difficult disease – no longer exists!
At the session of the MS Treatment Commission at the Solidarity Fund of the Institute for Health Insurance and the reinsurance of the FBiH, new 65 patients were introduced into the therapeutic process. Thus, the waiting list is officially “cleaned”.
With this rank, all patients who previously waited for their chance to start treatment, they finally got it.
Today, a total of 1064 patients in the FBiH are in the process of receiving modern, but expensive therapies, the total value is about 13 million convertible marks. This information not only shows the progress of the health system, but also a new hope for people to whom this therapy means life.
Until a few years ago, the waiting lists were numbered hundreds of names, and patients waited for several years to therapy, exposed to the progression of the disease without any treatment. That is why it is not surprising that today was greeted with great emotions and gratitude.
Special thanks have been sent to the commission for the assignment of medicines with MS-A – prof. dr. Enri Suljić. President and members of the Commission prof. dr. Aidi Šehanović and prof. dr. Natashi Pejanovic. Like Gordana Muzurović, the President of the Association of Persons with MS Canton Sarajevo, who made an immeasurable contribution to this success.
Administrative victory
Also, gratitude was also sent to the Institute for Health Insurance and Reinsurance of FBiH, led by Dr. Vlatko Martinović, and all clinical commissions involved in the process.
The Association of Persons with MS confirmed its commitment to constant struggle for a better and more dignified life of all patients. Today’s success shows that through persistent work and commitment to common goals can be achieved and seemingly unattainable changes.
This is more than an administrative victory – this is the day that the system has shown that it can be human.
Recall, on the occasion of the World Multiple Sclerosis, which is celebrated 30 every year. May, 17. Sarajevo is 17. Socializing for people living with this difficult disease.
Then significant jubilee is especially emphasized: 50 years of existence and work of the Association of Persons with MS of Sarajevo Canton, whose head is Gordan Muzurović.
The event was an opportunity to exchange experiences, mutual support and information about the latest therapies and knowledge about multiple sclerosis. The topic of the World Dana multiple sclerosis for the period from 2024. by 2026 is “My diagnosis of multiple sclerosis”, and the goal is to gather the community in order to share stories, raised consciousness and supported all persons affected by this disease.
