In Bosnia and Herzegovina, workers in the IT sector have the highest incomes with an average net salary of 2,399 KM, which is more than double compared to workers in the hospitality industry, who have an average income of 1,157, according to data from the BiH Statistics Agency.
When it comes to the level of income by sector, the differences in Bosnia and Herzegovina are still drastic. The data also reveal a drastic gap between occupations, with the three most lucrative branches clearly standing out: the IT sector, finance and public administration.
According to the data of the BiH Statistics Agency, the average salary in April this year was 1,684 KM, while in the same period last year it was 1,545 KM.
High above the national average and at the very top of the list were employees in finance and insurance with an average salary of 2,196 KM in April of this year, as well as workers in public administration with an average salary of 2,119 KM.
The fourth sector that exceeds the limit of two thousand marks is the production and supply of electricity, where workers received an average of 2,067 KM. In April last year, the average salary in this sector was 1,922 KM.
Somewhat lower, but still quite high incomes compared to the rest of the country, were achieved in professional, scientific and technical activities with a salary of 1,992 KM and in the mining and stone sector, where the average salary is 1,861 KM.
Education workers in April received an average salary of 1,676 KM, which is just below the national average.
The middle of the scale is occupied by a group of activities in which average salaries range between 1,400 and 1,500 KM. Thus, workers in agriculture, forestry and fishing earned 1,476 KM, in transport and warehousing 1,470 KM, while in administrative and auxiliary service activities they earned 1,469 KM.
A very similar average was recorded in the real estate business where the average salary is 1,466 KM, as well as in the water supply and waste management sector with an average salary of 1,457 KM.
On the other hand, workers in some of the most important and massive economic branches face significantly lower incomes. The average April salary in the processing industry was 1,399 KM, and only slightly less, 1,383 KM to be exact, was earned by employees in wholesale and retail trade.
The difficult situation on the labor market is also illustrated by the construction industry with an average of 1,307 KM, while at the very bottom of the scale are restaurateurs, more precisely workers in the activities of providing accommodation and food preparation, whose average salary was only 1,157 KM.
The Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina emphasized that the aforementioned data do not include employees in trades and liberal professions, as well as members of the defense, writes Klix.
