During the meeting, Helez stressed the importance of the Republic of Turkey as one of the most important strategic partners of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in the field of defense. As he stressed, from his appointment for the Minister of Defense, cooperation with Turkey has significantly improved, and military relations became a key segment of bilateral relations.
“The Republic of Turkey is a friendly and brotherly country to give a huge contribution to the reforms of the BiH Armed Forces. More than 6,000 members of BiH passed in Turkey, which is an indicator of the strong military-cooperative link between our countries,” Helez said.
Within the cooperation, BiH soon expects the delivery of antidron systems and combat armored conveyors for the battalion group of Lake Infantry, and it is also planned to deliver unmanned aircraft Bayraktar TB2. Helez also mentioned that the Framework Agreement and the Train Agreement and the Helicopter Pilot Agreement were already signed, which will further improve the combat capacities of the BiH Armed Forces.
“Turkey, as a military force with an important geostrategic position, has historical authority and will to support Bosnia and Herzegovina on its path to NATO membership. Turkey support is of exceptional importance,” Helez added.
Ambassador Akseki pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina has a special place in the hearts of the Turkish people, and that according to the instructions of the Turkish President, the Recep Tayyipa Erdoğan, the goal is even more to improve cooperation between these two friendly countries.
At the end of the meeting, Helez wished the Axecrock Ambassador a pleasant stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the recommendation of visiting cultural and historical monuments and natural beauties that our country offers.
This meeting is another step towards strengthening bilateral relations, and especially military cooperation, between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Turkey.
