The 28-year-old’s success brought him to the top of the slalom rankings with 195 points after three races.
Swiss world slalom champion Loic Meillard was second after winning the giant slalom on Saturday to go fastest in the first race by 0.05 seconds, while Norway’s Henrik Kristoffersen was third, giving him 97th place on the podium.
Norwegians took four of the first six places: Oscar Andreas Sandvik was fifth and Hans Grahl-Madsen sixth.
“I was very nervous… so many guys come out, make a lot of mistakes,” Haugan said after his sixth career win.
– It could have happened to me, but I managed to follow my plan and avoid big mistakes – he said.
The Norwegian, second after the first run, had asked earlier in the morning if he would be able to run due to back pain, but was happy to do so.
– It was pretty bad this morning, but then it actually got a little better – he told TNT Sport.
Meillard was the last to ski and crossed the finish line 0.28 slower than Haugan’s combined time of one minute, 37.89 seconds.
Italy’s Alex Vinatzer set the fastest time of 49.21 in the second leg to finish fourth after coming 25th in the first descent down the Face de Bellevarde.
Olympic champion Clement Noel of France was one of five who failed to finish the second run.
