In a speech praising Hamas and its militants, Abu Obaida, a spokesman for the group’s armed wing, said Sunday that the hostages would be safe until they were handed over to Israeli authorities – but that this “depends on the enemy’s commitment” to a ceasefire.
The spokesman warned Israel of “violations” of the agreement “that could jeopardize the commitment and ability to carry out the exchange and have a direct impact on the safety of enemy hostages.”

The first phase of the truce was originally scheduled to begin at 8:30 this morning, but was delayed because Hamas was late in handing over a list of the three female hostages who were freed this afternoon.
