The State Department said on Sunday morning that the US had notified the guarantor countries of the cease-fire agreement with credible reports indicating an imminent ceasefire violation by Hamas against the people of Gaza.
“These false accusations are fully in line with misleading Israeli propaganda and provide cover for the continued crimes of the Israeli occupation and organized aggression against our people,” Hamas said on Telegram.
The group accused the Israeli military of arming and funding criminal gangs that commit crimes against civilians in Gaza and loot aid trucks and Palestinian property.
“The facts on the ground reveal the exact opposite,” Hamas said, citing public confessions by armed gangs through media reports and videos confirming the occupation’s involvement in spreading chaos and undermining security.
The group affirmed that the Gaza Police Force, with the support of the public, is fulfilling its national duty by pursuing these gangs and holding them accountable through clear legal mechanisms.
Hamas called on the US to stop repeating misleading Israeli claims and to act against Israeli violations of the law, especially against financial and logistical support to criminal gangs.
Last week, a ceasefire and hostage exchange agreement was reached between Israel and Hamas, based on a phased plan presented by US President Donald Trump. The first phase involved the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The plan also envisages the reconstruction of Gaza and the establishment of a new governing mechanism without Hamas.
As of October 2023, Israel’s genocidal war has killed more than 68,100 people and injured 170,200, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
