The Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Nezir Pivić, and the Secretary of the Office for the Fight against Corruption, Dževad Fejzić, together with their colleagues, held a working meeting with representatives of the OSCE Field Office in Travnik, with whom they discussed cooperation in the coming year and plans for 2026.
They thanked the OSCE for their partnership and strong support for the projects implemented by the Government and the Office in the field of fighting and preventing corruption, stating that during 2025 they implemented six joint activities foreseen in the Action Plan for the fight against corruption.
The willingness to continue working on building the legal framework, strengthening the capacities of the Office, and strengthening cooperation with police bodies and the prosecutor’s office as well as domestic and international organizations was emphasized. They especially praised the creation of public registers – of employed and appointed persons, and the launch of four more new registers is planned, which will contribute to transparency and strengthening citizens’ trust in institutions.
– We need laws and by-laws that will be passable and enforceable, and our commitment is to establish such a legal framework. The government will continue to monitor the needs of the Office for the fight against corruption and strengthen it so that it remains independent and autonomous in its work. Our measures and mechanisms – especially with regard to the transparency and openness of the decision-making process – contribute to increasing citizens’ trust in institutions, reducing the scope for abuses and strengthening the responsibility of the government – said Prime Minister Pivić.
Secretary of the Office Dževad Fejzić announced that next year the focus will be on the adoption of the Law on Prevention and Suppression of Corruption, which should soon be adopted in the form of a draft, and the Law on Declaration of Property of Public Office Holders, which has passed public discussion and will be sent to the ZDK Assembly.
The meeting with OSCE representatives was also attended by the Minister of Justice and Administration, Nebojša Nikolić, and the Secretary of the Secretariat for Legislation, Mirnes Burkić.
Nikolić announced that the introduction of e-administration is planned next year, which will be an additional step towards the transparency and efficiency of public administration work in this canton.
