The head coach of the men’s basketball team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dario Gjergja, has shortened the list of players he is counting on during the preparations for the qualifiers for the World Cup against Turkey and Serbia.
It got calls 15 basketball players: Xavier Castaneda (Unicaja, Spain), Adnan Arslanagić (Trepča, Kosovo), Sani Čampara (Sloboda Energoinvest), Amar Gegić (SC Derby, Montenegro), Edin Atić (Bosna BH Telecom), Tarik Hrelja (Student m:tel), Adin Vrabac (Szolnok, Hungary), Vojin Ilić (Igokea m:tel), Haris Delalić (Bosna BH Telecom), Amar Alibegović (Trapani, Italy), Ajdin Penava (Slask, Poland), Stefan Simanić (Šiaulai, Lithuania), Nikola Marić (Girona, Spain), Emir Sulejmanović (Unicaja, Spain) and Asim Gutić (Bosnia BH Telecom).
Calls are also planned to be made to three BH basketball player who play for Dubai (Džanan Musa, Kenan Kamenjaš, Kosta Kondić), but the management of the Basketball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina was informed that they do not have the club’s permission to join the Dragons in this qualifying “window”.
We really did everything in order to Musa, Kamenjaš and Kondic were part of the national team at the gathering in November, but we did not find understanding from the leaders of Dubai. We tried to arrange for them to be available to the selector at least for the match against Serbia in Skenderija, but although Dubai does not have any scheduled official matches in that term, they have maintained their position not to allow them to join the national team at this time. We are aware that Musa is injured, but I don’t see why, say, releasing Kamenjaš is a problem.
So, we are unpleasantly surprised, especially considering that in Dubai they declare themselves as friends of Bosnia and Herzegovina basketballand moves like this certainly do not confirm that. We also know that some other players from Dubai have been invited to their national teams, such as Sanli and Dangubić, we will definitely follow with great interest whether they will receive permission from this club to play for Turkey or Serbia. says the general secretary of the KSBiH Dževad Alihodžić.
The gathering of the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina is planned for Monday (November 24). On the same day, a media conference will be scheduled at KSC Skenderija (5:30 p.m.), where coach Gjergja will address media representatives, KS BiH announced.
