“We have suspended the delivery of arms to Israel that could be used in the war in Gaza,” WadePhul told the T-Online newspaper. He stated that the move is a “clear signal” to Israel and that this act was achieved more than “mere statements” of other countries. “I think this decision is currently enough,” he added.
The partial embargo on the export of German weapons Israel announced the Chancellor Friedrich Merz in early August. Like Germany, Finland does not recognize Palestine as a state. The Finnish coalition government is divided around that issue.

“The process leading to France and Saudi Arabia is the most significant international effort in the last many years to create conditions for the decision with two countries,” said Finland Foreign Minister ELINA VALTONEN online X.
The first step listed in the declaration is the end of the almost two-year war between Israel and the Hamas Palestinian group in Gaza. Saudi Arabia and France invoked UN member states to support the Declaration that provides “tangible, time-limited and non-refundable steps” towards the implementation of the decision on two countries.
