German arms exports in 2024 broke all previous records, reaching a record 13.2 billion euros according to official data.

The Federal Ministry of Economy announced that Ukraine is still the largest recipient of German weapons, with 8.1 billion euros, or 62 percent of the total approved exports, reports Anadolu Agency.

“These figures show that we stand firmly on the side of Ukraine in its defense against the Russian war of aggression. “Military aid to Ukraine is also in the interest of our security policy,” the ministry said in a statement.

Germany’s annual arms exports surpassed the previous record of 12.2 billion euros set in 2023. Total exports were almost 8.1 billion euros for military weapons and 5.1 billion euros for other military equipment.

After Ukraine, the main recipients were Singapore with 1.2 billion euros, Algeria with 559 million euros, and the USA with almost 299 million euros.

The data also revealed continued arms exports to Israel, despite growing calls for Berlin to impose an arms embargo.

According to official data, in 2024, Berlin granted Israel military equipment worth 161 million euros. The German government temporarily halted arms shipments to Israel in March, but resumed shipments a few months later after receiving assurances from Tel Aviv about how they would be used.
