In the biggest derby of Croatian football, the match of the 16th round of the SuperSport HNL, there was no winner, Dinamo and Hajduk players drew 1:1 (0:0) at the Maksimir stadium.
Hajduk took the lead in Zagreb with a goal by Michele Šega in the 67th minute. Hajduk was in the lead until the twelfth minute of stoppage time, but then Arber Hoxha scored a goal to make it 1:1 at Maksimir. As many as 14 yellow cards were shown during this fierce derby in Zagreb.
Hajduk coach Gonzalo Garcia told media representatives after the game:
I think the first part of the game we didn’t play wellalthough there were some good moments. The goalkeeper kept us in the game in the first half. In the second half we were much better, we controlled the game and scored a goal. But I had the impression that we would play forever. The referee’s time was too long. I have seen wider flares and the like in many stadiums in Croatia, but nowhere was there such compensation. I didn’t see that reports Gol.hr.
“The torch did not work for us”
When the Torcide torch started, you could be seen gesticulating with your hands that they should not do it. You were in a good rhythm, weren’t you!?
I saw that in those moments we played well and the break did not go our way. We calmed down Dinamo, kept control, stood well on the field, had some dangerous moves, and then a flare happened and disrupted our rhythm. That happens in football, I’m not a policeman to prevent it.
How do you comment on 19 minutes of stoppage time?
I remember that some games in the HNL we played forty minutes of clean play and we only had five or six minutes of injury time. The players often keep the ball, make it difficult, roll eight of them on the grass, then nothing. There it is now the referee determined 13 minutes referee compensation, and then added a few more minutes. I have no further commentscoach Hajduk concluded.
