BiH Border Police and Frontex work on the development of new documents with the aim of expanding joint activities to additional operational areas and other areas of action. During the next two months, the activities of an additional six border crossings is planned and the engagement of Frontex, except for border checks, is also planned in the field of activities of the BiH Border Police, Serbia and Montenegro.
It was told from the BiH Border Police, from which the reminders of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union signed an agreement on operational activities that the European border and coast guard (Frontex) implemented in our country.
This Agreement established conditions for the Engagement of FRONTEX at the BiH border, as well as their joint treatment of BiH border police officers when performing border controls at border crossings and a border belt.
Members of Frontex already on two transitions
From the border police are also reminiscent that they are in accordance with the signed operational plan, which is key to the practical details of Frontex, but engaged in two international border crossings, the George in Trebinje, where together with the police officers of the BiH border police are performed by border checks.
They added that, in accordance with the currently planned activities and operational needs, members of Frontex, except at Sarajevo International Airport, will not be distributed on other airports in BiH.
From the state border service, they point out that members of Frontex act exclusively in cooperation with the BiH Border Police and act on the instructions of its officials.
“The area of FRONTEX officials is focused on three areas, verification of false identities, fight against different forms of cross-border crime and technical and logistical support, including the border monitoring”, clarified.

When it comes to the type of equipment that Frontex will make available to BiH, BiH border police and specialist equipment for detecting counterfeit documents, as well as specialist border monitoring, and drones, thermal cameras and border monitoring.
All this was agreed upon drafting the Operational Plan for the joint operation “Bosnia and Herzegovina 2025”, when they are from Frontex, except officers, requested and equipment and material-technical means.
Speaking about the areas where Frontex will give the largest contribution, which are currently presenting the largest security challenges at the BiH border, the border police point out that irregular migrations remain an important issue.
They emphasize that with the phenomenon of illegal migration, numerous other security challenges in connection with the smuggling of narcotics, weapons, people smuggling.
