The former Brazilian national team member and one of the most trophy-winning football players in history, Dani Alves, caused great public interest after he was filmed in a church in Girona, where he attended a service – not only as a believer, but also as an active participant in the service.
Alves, who went through an extremely difficult period in the past two years, told the crowd that he it was faith that sustained him in the most difficult moments of his life.

From prison sentence to acquittal
As a reminder, Dani Alves is in Spain in February 2024 sentenced to four and a half years in prison on rape chargeswith the obligation to pay compensation of 150,000 euros.
However, only 13 months later, the court issued an acquittal, stating that “the victim’s testimony was insufficiently reliable to confirm guilt”.
Alves was released from prison after serving a little more than one year of his sentence, and he has since withdrawn from the public eye – until the present appearance in the church in Girona.
