Before the Summit of Palestine was officially recognized by the UK, Canada, Australia and Portugal, and the number of states that it climbed at least 145 out of 193 UN members, AFP data show.
The movement is expected to join Monday to join more countries like Andorra, Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta and San Marina.
This symbolic recognition will be part of the summit organized by France and Saudi Arabia, focused on the decision of the two countries – Israel and Palestine, who should live next to each other in peace and security. Recognition is the result of multi-month diplomatic efforts, especially French President Emmanuel Macron.
Israeli ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, announced a boycott of the summit, calling him a “circus” which, as he claims, rewards terrorism. The United States will also not participate in the event.
