Finland announced on Friday that it will acquire advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles (AMRAAM) from the United States.
Finland, which shares a long border with Russia, ordered 64 F-35 fighter jets manufactured by US military group Lockheed Martin in 2022, with the first deliveries planned for the end of next year.
– The first deliveries of missiles will support the deployment of the F-35 fleet – the government announced on Friday.
– This acquisition will give Finland the latest and most advanced variant of AMRAAM, which will improve our ability to respond to threats in our operational environment – the government said, according to Reuters.
