The Municipal Court in Tešnje passed a final verdict in the legal matter of the prosecutor Muhidin Alić against the defendant Adem Kurdić for the compensation of non-material damages due to defamation.
According to the official decision of the court, Kurdić is obliged to pay Alic an amount of 2,000.00 KM with statutory default interest in the name of damages due to defamation, as well as to compensate the costs of the procedure in the amount of 2,204.28 KM.
The court case was initiated after the lawsuit filed by Muhidin Alić at the end of October 2024, reacting to the text that Adem Kurdić published on his personal Facebook profile. In the aforementioned publication, a number of serious accusations were made against Alic’s military, political and professional career, which the court ultimately assessed as defamation and damage to reputation.
On the other hand, the court rejected the prosecutor’s request that the verdict be published on Kurdić’s Facebook profile, as well as the defendant’s request for compensation for his procedural costs.
Alić: “This verdict has many consequences” After the verdict became final, Muhidin Alić himself addressed the public via social networks, attaching the court documents. Alić states that this decision proved that the claims made were conscious lies aimed at destroying his honor.
We remind you that political tensions and disagreements between the two actors escalated with public announcements. Adem Kurdić, who introduced himself as a long-time former activist of SDA Tešanj, in his disputed status under the title “It is not in accordance with the policy of Forward BiH”, harshly criticized Alić, calling him a “conformist” and “office hunter”. In his comments, Kurdić problematized Alic’s role in the war period, his involvement in the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as his later work as a lawyer and representation of workers. However, the Municipal Court in Tešanj, after presenting the evidence and holding the main hearing, found that the allegations from Kurdić’s announcement crossed the line of freedom of speech and entered the domain of defamation, thereby causing immaterial damage to the reputation of the prominent lawyer and former minister from Tešanj.
