Extreme temperatures and an almost unpleasant drought were almost relaxed by fields and orchards, and in such conditions, production in greenhouses is significantly difficult. Farmers are desperate, because and what they managed to produce suffocating fruit and vegetables. They fear that, precisely due to inclement weather, the imports of agricultural products will explode in the coming months.
10.5 million KM
What condition of agricultural production in our country is best illustrated by the Indirect Taxation Administration (UIO), and according to which it was submitted to us, BiH imported 166,602,556 kilograms of fruit and vegetables paid by 259.2 million KM.
And, while the most important is the most imported bananas, 28,455,078.43 kilograms worth 47.4 million KM, there is a huge amount of potatoes in BiH, and 16,483,597 kilograms paid by 18.6 million KM. Likewise, 13,395,712, 87 kilograms of tomatoes were imported into our country, which cost 18 million KM. In the past half years in BiH, the Black and White Port is imported, as well as vouchers in the amount of 7,664,594.19 kilograms whose value amounted to KM 8.4 million.
All types of cabbage in the amount of 5,549,706.81 kilograms were imported for which 6.2 million KM were given. Almost five million KM was given for cucumbers and kornish, fresh and chilled, which arrived in the amount of 3,853,073, 29 kilograms, and as many as 14.9 million KM was paid in imported quantity of 7,858,583.24 kilograms.
When it comes to fruit, except for bananas, a significant amount of citrus is imported in BiH and 25,149,091.78 kilograms and in the amount of 31.6 million KM. 10.5 million KM was paid for melons and watermelons in the amount of 15,730,480.09, and for grapes of 3.9 million KM which 1,054,479.29 kilograms arrived.
Extreme heat
Almost 17.3 million KM was paid for the import of apples, pears and quince whose in the first half year is imported in 16,890,402.06 kilograms. That domestic production is increasingly choking imports confirmed by Marijan Brajković, president of the agricultural cooperative “Matica” from Visic in the Capljina. He points out precisely that due to reduced production, due to extreme heat and drought imports of fruits and vegetables, but also cereals, to extend.
– The big question is how much production will make sense in the future in the future and, at all, engaging in agriculture. Import, in fact, doesn’t stop. The malls are full of imported goods, and sales are difficult. It is all harder to sell domestic products, and I am afraid that these other channels will be closed in the future that domestic goods are placed up to smaller stores. It is necessary to resolve the import situation and then slowly lift our production, in order to lead it to the level of 10 or 15 years ago – Brajković speaks for “Avaz”.
Bad export
On the other hand, exports in the first six months of this year was smaller than last year in the same period. In half a year, 11,386,231.83 kilograms of fruits and vegetables were exported to 47.1 million KM. In the same period last year, an amount of 14,547,761.67 kilograms was exported, whose value was 50.5 million KM.
