The company from the heart of the Balkans, which has nurtured wood processing culture for sixty years and turns it into top design, is now standing side by shoulder with the largest. Apple has officially become a client Artisana.
Behind that heritage there is a new generation – Erna Ćostovićarchitects trained in Graz, who decided to return home and continue his father’s mission: the creation of furniture that lasts, the story of the story and builds heritage. This is her first media interview.
Erna, the news is fresh – Artisan just entered Apple. How does that sound from your perspective?
Erna: It is the moment when it is confirmed that tradition and authenticity have a global value. From our workshop to Apple campuses in California, Ireland and now India – it is a path that went a vision for 60 years, followed by my father Fadil and his partner Drazen. Sounds unreal, but artisan is actually a logical continuation of our vision.
What is the artisan different from other world brands?
Erna: All starts with us and ends with a tree. We do not treat it as a material, but as a living being looking for respect. Each piece passes through the hands of our masters, handled manually, combines and finishes. It is not just production – it is a craft, art and passion. And I think clients like Apple, Hermès and Louis Vuitton recognize exactly – honesty in the material and commitment to detail.
You studied in Graz, you could stay in Austria or go anywhere. Why return?
Erna: I returned because I believe in values that are placed here – quality, respect and love for creation. Our job is not just about making a table or chair. We build stories, we create homes, we leave a trace. It is a responsibility, but also a privilege.
Today, Artisan works on projects from California to Bangalore. How is the team worn with so many challenges?
Erna: That is our greatest pride – our team. The people who are doing here are not just employees. These are crafts and artists who treat each piece as if going to their own home. We are not a factory – we are a workshop that breathes and grows with projects. It is the key to our success.
And for the end, do you have your own personal message?
Erna: Yes – We don’t just make furniture. We build hereditary. And when you see a piece of artisan in Apple campus or Herm Church, know that one family is behind him, one tradition and one love that lasts for six decades.
