Speaking at the 8th regular provincial congress of the AK Party in the northern province of Ordu, Erdogan highlighted the transformation in Syria as a key achievement of Turkey’s regional policy.
“We did not directly step into Syria, but we comprehensively dealt with all dimensions of its problems and brought it to its current state. Now the sun is rising again in Syria,” Erdogan said.
The president emphasized Turkey’s proactive approach to protecting its southern borders, saying that historic changes are taking place in the region just beyond its borders.
Erdogan said that instead of a direct step into Syria, Turkey’s multifaceted strategy has led to positive outcomes.
He criticized what he called the “orientalist” perspectives of some Turkish opposition leaders, who view the Middle East as a “swamp” instead of recognizing opportunities for constructive engagement.
His remarks came as Turkey continues efforts to shape Syria’s future, while maintaining security along its borders and supporting displaced Syrians affected by the conflict.
