The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, referred to the situation in Syria and threatened to intervene, especially in the context of the fight against members of the so-called Islamic states.
On that occasion, Erdogan said that Turkey has shown many times so far how uncompromising it is in its will to protect its security and survival.
“If it comes to that, we can come suddenly one night. With Allah’s permission, we have more than enough power, capacity and talent to do it. We will not agree to the disintegration of Syria or the disruption of its unitary structure under any guise,” the Turkish president said.
He also emphasized that, if a risk is detected, Turkey will quickly take the necessary steps.
“Those who turned the conflict in Syria and the threat of ISIL into an opportunity and saw somewhat different dreams, faced the reality of our region after recent events. This reality is that there is no place for terrorism in the future of the region. The only fate that awaits those who choose terror and violence to be buried with their weapons. I say it clearly, no force can prevent it,” said the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
A little earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also spoke about the situation in Syria, saying that “it is only a matter of time” when the Syrian Kurdish fighters will be eliminated.
“Conditions in Syria have changed. We believe it is only a matter of time before the PKK/YPG will be eliminated,” Fidan said. Turkey accuses the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia of being linked to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), which Ankara considers a “terrorist” group.
