Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said today that Israeli attacks on Syria and Lebanon have reached the point where they threaten Turkey as well, adding that Israeli aggression poses a threat to the entire world and must be stopped.
Speaking to members of parliament, Erdogan also said that there are initiatives, led by Israel, to destabilize the Mediterranean region.
“The attacks of Netanyahu and his murder network on Lebanon and Syria have brought the situation to the point where it now threatens Turkey as well,” Erdogan told lawmakers, adding that Ankara’s security is linked to the security of these two countries, Reuters reports.
“These small entities, whose ambitions far exceed their size, have boarded the Israeli ship of unrest, assumed the role of Zionist subcontractors and are pursuing some unrealistic dreams in the Eastern Mediterranean,” he pointed out, without going into further explanations.
He warned that “no one should chase adventures.”
“I want everyone to know that if the rights of Turkey and Turkish Cypriots are violated in the Eastern Mediterranean, our response will be very clear and very strong,” Erdogan added.
Turkey, Iran’s neighbor, blamed Israeli “provocations” for the start of the US-Iran war.
Erdogan called on world powers to take a clearer stance against Israel, saying they had been emboldened by the “silence of the international community”.
“Returning Israel to the rule of law has become a common duty not only for certain countries, but for all of humanity,” he said.
