At a press conference after the G20 summit in South Africa, Erdogan said that Turkey will do everything in its power to pave the way for peace in Ukraine, and that it will share the results of talks with Putin with European and American leaders and allies, reports Reuters.
Speaking about the planned formation of an international stabilization force in Gaza, Erdogan said that Turkey is still evaluating how to potentially deploy its security forces within the international force, and that a decision will be made after this discussion.
He reiterated the position that Israel’s attacks in Gaza amounted to “genocide” and that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was responsible for them.
Turkey, which is a member of NATO, played a key role in the truce negotiations between the Palestinian militant movement Hamas and Israel, and is one of the signatories of the peace agreement reached in Egypt, thus committing to monitor its implementation, reports Tanjug.
Erdogan also said that “Sudanese brothers” want Turkey to join efforts to achieve peace in that country, where a war between the Sudanese army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has been raging since April 2023, and that Ankara will do everything in its power to end the conflict.
