This year, the Ministry of Education of the Zenica-Doboj Canton plans to enroll 3,328 students in the first grades of secondary schools, distributed in 170 classes, according to the enrollment plan, Minister Mirza Mushija said.
The novelty, he points out, is that this year enrollment in 30 secondary schools and 10 cities and municipalities in that canton, over which the relevant ministry has jurisdiction, will be implemented in two terms.
“Enrollment will last until June 16. The first term is for all students, and the second term, from June 18 to 23, is reserved for students who are not admitted to the desired school in the first term and who could choose another school. Last year, according to the enrollment plan, it was possible to enroll 3,272 students in 167 classes. This year, there are no new ones, nor the cancellation of any professions/vocations. It can be noticed that interest is greater in four-year degrees, and especially for medical and technical professions”, said Mushija.
The enrollment plan envisages the enrollment of about 250 more children than those who completed the ninth grade of primary schools in that canton, so that children from other countries, primarily the Central Bosnia Canton, who gravitate to the city of Zenica, which has 11 secondary schools, could also enroll in the desired school.
The municipalities of Žepče and Usora, which have jurisdiction over primary and secondary education – since 2009, Žepče and since 2013, Usora, have local services for social activities, which draw up their enrollment plans.
These are municipalities with a majority Croat population, in a canton with a majority Bosniak population, so the Constitution of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the ZDK allows them to assume responsibility for primary and secondary education, which the representatives of the ZDK Assembly made possible in both cases by passing the law on the transfer of powers.
