“Princess Sofia was introduced to the mentioned person several times in 2005,” the Swedish court’s information department told Dagens Nyheter briefly, without giving further details about where, how or why the then 21-year-old Sofia Hellqvist met Jeffrey Epstein.
Dating through a business woman
Sofia met Epstein in New York through Swedish businesswoman Barbro Ehnbom, who had known him before. A few months later, Ehnbom received an email from Epstein’s assistant:
“Jeffrey is wondering what happened to Camilla. Did you tell her she can come over whenever she wants?”

“He probably means Sofia, the little beautiful dark haired girl who has a friend Camilla.”
The Swedish court confirmed that Sofia did not accept an invitation to visit Epstein’s private island in the Caribbean, where many girls have been sexually abused. However, the princess’s friend Camilla told Dagens Nyheter that they met Epstein at his office in New York.
“He offered us an acting school, probably to show how rich and powerful he was. I wasn’t interested and I never saw him again. Luckily! I was 22 at the time and it’s really embarrassing to think what could have happened,” Camilla said.
The princess’s friend did not reveal Sofia’s reaction, but the court claims that she also rejected Epstein’s offer and had no contact with him after that. Sofia returned to Sweden in 2009 and began a relationship with Prince Carl Philip, five years older, in the same fall.
