Delegations of Israel and Hamas have started indirect negotiations in the Egyptian Resort by Sharm El-Sheik, with the mediation of Egypt and the United States, with the aim of achieving an agreement on the break in Gaza.
Both sides are in principle supported by the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, and which includes a break of the conflict, gap release and enabling the Humanitarian aid to Gaza. The plan also supported numerous Arabic and Western countries.
Trump said that quick action is expected.
– I was told that the first phase should be completed this week. I ask all sides to act quickly – he wrote on social networks.
However, negotiations burden dispute issues such as the complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the disarmament of Hamas. Hamas is looking for guarantees that Israel will stop military action after the gap release, while part of the Israeli government sharply rejects the interruption of hostilities.
Although Israel reduced the intensity of attacks, Israeli forces continue to perform air strikes. According to the Health Authorities in Gaza, 19 people were killed in the last 24 hours – significantly less than previous weeks, but attacks were not completely suspended.
In Israel attacks, more than 67,000 Palestinians have been killed so far, while Gaza was almost completely destroyed.
