The General Assembly of the World Taekwondo Federation (World Taekwondo) was held yesterday, where Chungwon Choue was re-elected as its first person, while Jinbang Yang (Korea, 98 votes), Athanasios Pragalos (Greece, 96 votes) and Driss El received the trust of the delegates among the six candidates for the three vice-presidential positions. At the General Assembly, which was attended by the member of the presidency of the Taekwondo Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Samir Šarić, as well as the technical secretary Mirela Mujović, 15 members of the World Taekwondo Federation’s Board of Directors were elected, four of them from Europe.
In addition to the election of the president and three vice-presidents, several important decisions for the future of taekwondo were adopted, the most significant of which is that instead of the current four, Olympic taekwondo will have six categories in both competitions, but this decision will only cover the 2032 Olympic Games.
