Drama in Germany: a Serb shot a policeman and took children hostage

According to Bild newspaper, the suspected perpetrator, a Serbian citizen, previously caused a disturbance in a bar.

He then fled in a car, and the police followed him. During the police chase, he allegedly fired a small-caliber weapon through the window, wounding the officer. The officer was wearing a bulletproof vest and was apparently lucky. He received only minor injuries.

During the escape, the man took two children hostage and is currently hiding in a house in the Hehsten district. According to WDR, the police describe the situation as “threatening”. Police are on the scene in large numbers.

In the meantime, heavily armed elite police officers arrived on the scene and surrounded the house where the suspect barricaded himself. An SEK negotiation team has arrived in Dortmund’s Höchsten district and will try to convince the suspect to release the children.
