Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, currently ranked fourth in the world, successfully started his performance at the Australian Open by reaching the second round after defeating Spaniard Pedro Martinez, who is ranked 71st on the ATP list.
The match lasted exactly two hours, and Djokovic won with a score of 6:3, 6:2, 6:2, once again confirming his dominance at the tournament in Melbourne.
From the very beginning, Novak imposed a high rhythm of the game. Already in the opening games of the first set, he made a break and quickly took a 3:0 lead, which allowed him to keep the advantage without major problems and lead in the sets.
In the second set, Djokovic was even more confident. He took away his opponent’s serve in the third and seventh games, thus winning the second set without much difficulty and coming within reach of the overall victory.
The third set brought a somewhat more even fight, but the decisive moment came in the fifth game when Djokovic made a break. The advantage he gained at that time was enough to calmly bring the match to an end and qualify for the next round.
In the second round of the Australian Open, Djokovic expects a duel with the Italian Francesco Maestrelli, currently the 141st tennis player in the world, who eliminated the Frenchman Terence Atmane in the first round.
