The Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy presented the budget for 2025 in the amount of 592 million KM, which is aimed at improving social protection and providing support to the most vulnerable categories of society.
The largest part of the budget, 531 million KM, is intended for the support of the most vulnerable members of society, among which funds for compensation for persons with disabilities in the amount of 285 million KM are specifically allocated. 26 million KM has been provided for the compensation of civilian victims of war, i.e. wounded civilians, parents of murdered children and victims of the war crime of rape, while 39 million KM has been provided for the compensation of parents and caregivers, who take care of family members with 100 percent disability, which enables a monthly compensation of 1,000 KM, compared to 619 KM in the past year, the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy announced.
Special attention for children
Special attention is paid to children, so 166 million KM have been provided for children’s allowance, which will enable the payment of 190 KM per child for about 70,000 children in the Federation. Also, a one-time support of 1,000 KM is provided for each newborn in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for which 15 million KM is provided.
Support for pensioners through various programs amounts to 2.24 million KM, of which two million KM are intended for spa treatment and rehabilitation, while additional funds are directed to support the work of associations and organizations that represent the rights of this population.
With the aim of strengthening the capacity of centers for social work in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 3.7 million KM have been allocated, which includes funds for the administrative processing of social benefits according to federal regulations in the amount of 1.7 million KM, while two million KM is earmarked for infrastructure projects that will improve the working conditions of these institutions.
Six million KM is planned for the development of social services in local communities, of which significant funds are directed to support the work of public kitchens, homes for children without parental care and homes and day care centers for the elderly, day care and service centers for children and people with disabilities disabilities and difficulties in development, as well as for supporting organizations that work to improve the position of children and people with disabilities.
This year, too, the Ministry devoted special attention to the protection of women and children victims of gender-based violence, for which 1.5 million KM is planned in 2025 as well.
Social care
Five million KM has been provided for institutions of permanent social care, of which two million KM will be directed to the improvement of services, and three million KM to the renovation of existing and construction of additional facilities.
KM 28 million is planned for the employment support program for vulnerable categories of the population, with a special focus on the long-term unemployed, women and people with disabilities.
In 2025, 200,000 KM is planned for the organization and celebration of Children’s Week in the cities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while 830,000 KM is planned for supporting the population through Red Cross programs, part of which is for socially vulnerable families and support packages for mothers in labor, and part for the implementation of the program of employment and provision of social services in the home, gerentodomáćica.
In addition to the above, the Ministry provided 500,000 KM for the establishment of the Family Fund, as well as the same amount for the establishment of the Institute for Social Protection, which further strengthens the institutional framework of social protection in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Federal Minister of Labor and Social Policy Adnan Delić pointed out that this budget is not only a financial framework, but also a message that the state recognizes and actively responds to the needs of its citizens.
– Each item of our budget reflects our commitment to providing security and support to citizens, our effort to recognize needs in society and adequately support them. This budget is, on the one hand, an indicator of care for the most vulnerable, and on the other, our vision of developing the social protection system and strengthening services in local communities – Minister Delić said, according to the press release.
