In the match of the 4th round of the European League, Dinamo lost to Celta Vigo 0-3 in front of 17,000 spectators at the Maksimir stadium, registering their first defeat, while the Spanish team achieved its third European victory.
After they defeated in the first round Fenerbahçe with 3-1then celebrated against with an identical result on the road Maccabi Tel Aviv, and in the third round they drew against Malmo (1-1), in the fourth round the “Blues” suffered a heavy defeat against the Spanish Celta, writes HRT.
The guests already led 3-0 after the first half. Two goals were scored by Pablo Duran (4, 44), while Sergi Dominguez (28) shook his own net.
Duran gave the guests the advantage in the fourth minute of the first real opportunities for Celta. In the 28th minute, it was already 2-0. Bryan Zaragoza “rushed” past Theophile-Cathrine, and then shot in front of the goal. The ball hit Dominguez, tricked Ivan Nevistic and ended up in the net. Duran only confirmed the goal, but UEFA attributed the goal to the Dinamo defender.
In the last moments of the first part Duran also scored for 3-0. Dinamo came closest to a goal in the 42nd minute, Kulenović shot, and Villar saved by deflecting the ball into the post.
It is Celta’s fifth consecutive victory in all competitions, and the eighth in a row without defeat.
In the next round, the Zagreb squad travels to Lille (November 27), followed by two home games against Real Betis (December 11) and FCSB (January 22), and a visit to Midtjylland (January 29).
Let’s remind you, teams from the first to the 8th place they go directly to the round of 16, and the clubs from 9th to 24th place enter the play-off knockout stage, i.e. the round of 16. The remaining 12 clubs are eliminated from the competition at the end of the league phase.
