It is a reaction to the renovated interests of the US President Donald Trump for control of Greenland, semi-autonomous Danish territory.
This month, Trump said that Greenland was vital for the security of the United States and that Denmark must be given control over a strategically important Arctic Island.
After the decades of drastic cuts in defense allocations, Denmark set aside 190 billion in the Danish crowns ($ 26 billion) for the military for a period of 10 years, of which the part was now assigned to the Arctic.
Denmark, although responsible for the safety and defense of Greenland, has limited military skills on the huge island, which is widely considered a kind of “safety black hole”.
The current capacities of Denmark include four outdated inspection vessels, Supervisory Flights Challenger and 12 patrols on dog trees, and all have a task to monitor the area four times larger than France.
