The Minister of Trade of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Amir Hasičević (Our Party), spoke out after last December in certain municipalities and cities of the FBiH fiscal turnover was reduced, which many analysts warned was happening because of the non-working Sunday.
He commented on the decrease in fiscal turnover in the trade sector in Gračanica, where he also comes from. Referring to the data of the Tax Administration of the FBiH for the period 2023-2024, he stated that the decrease in fiscal turnover in the trade of this city was not caused by non-working Sundays and non-working holidays for trade workers. He thinks the problem is somewhere else.
“The decrease in traffic was for 10 months in 2024, and the decrease is even greater if you compare the total traffic of all activities in Gračanica, and this requires a serious analysis of the causes, because it is a much bigger problem than the non-working Sunday,” emphasized Hasičević.
Namely, during January 2024, compared to the same month in 2023, the fiscal turnover in the trade of Gračanica was lower by 5,700 KM (-0.2 percent), in March by 4.5 million KM (-9.92 percent), in April 4, 1 million KM (-9.04 percent), May 114 KM (0.00 percent), June 1.8 million KM (-4.05 percent), August 5.21 million KM (-10.42 percent), in September 3.30 million KM (-7.20 percent), in October 3.89 million KM (-7.88 percent), in November 1.3 million KM (-3.01 percent) and December 1.54 million KM (-3.36 percent).
Gračanica is among the municipalities and cities of FBiH that in December last year had a significant decrease in total fiscal turnover in absolute terms. Fiscal turnover in December 2024 in Gračanica amounted to 108.99 million KM, which is 9.70 million KM less than in December 2023.
Economist and entity parliamentarian Admir Čavalić (SBiH) believes that non-working Sundays and non-working holidays are the potential cause of the decrease in fiscal turnover.
Minister Hasičević stated earlier this week, during a meeting with representatives of the trade and service trade union, that the fiscal turnover in FBiH trade during December 2024, i.e. after the introduction of non-working Sundays and non-working holidays, was higher by 22 million KM compared to December 2023, when Sundays and holidays were not non-working.
Earlier, the FBiH Tax Administration pointed out that the fiscal turnover of each city and municipality is affected by a number of factors.
