The death toll from the 6.8-magnitude earthquake in southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region has risen to 126.
This was reported by the Xinhua news agency, adding that 188 people were injured.
Chinese state television earlier reported 95 dead and 130 injured.
The earthquake struck in the early hours of the morning in Dingri district, in the town of Sigaze, a rural area popular with tourists due to its proximity to Mount Everest.
