Donald Trump Jr., the son of the US president-elect, and his friends allegedly recruited people in Greenland to act as Trump supporters in videos in exchange for a free lunch at an expensive hotel.
Danish radio DR reported that it heard from several sources that in the video materials, recorded during a short visit to Greenland, homeless people and other people can be seen who often linger in front of the store that is right next to the hotel. “These are homeless people and old people who suddenly eat in a restaurant where they have never been before,” a long-time resident of the capital Nuuk told DR.
All they had to do was put on “Make America Great Again” hats and participate in the videos, according to DR. Footage published by the newspaper Ekstra Bladet shows Trump’s men approaching passers-by on the street and handing out MAGA caps to them.
In a post on the Truth Social social network, future and former US President Donald Trump thanked the people of Greenland for being “so nice” to his son and his crew members. As previously reported, Trump Jr. arrived in Greenland three days ago to record a podcast.
At a press conference on Tuesday, the day his son was in Greenland, Trump said he was not ruling out military or economic pressure to bring the world’s largest island under control. His statements were taken seriously in Denmark, which governs Greenland, but also in other European countries from which criticism was directed at the recent occupant of the White House.
