The players did not want to comment too much on the cancellation of the reception and the decision of Zagreb mayor Tomislav Tomašević to ban Thompson’s performance.
The handball players were to be welcomed on Monday in Zagreb’s main square with Zaprešić Boys and Hrvatske ruže. The welcome program itself was supposed to start at 3 p.m. However, the handball players wanted Marko Perković Thompson to sing at their reception. However, Zagreb mayor Tomislav Tomašević forbade Thompson to perform in all the venues he manages, after he started the song ‘Čavoglave’ with ‘za dom spremni’ at the last concert in the Zagreb Arena. Since neither side wanted to give in, the reception in Zagreb was canceled.
