Croatian handball players celebrated against Slovenia in the third match of the second round of the European Championship on Tuesday in Malmö Arena with a score of 25-29.
It is Croatia excellent opening of the meeting and already after ten minutes had a four-goal advantage (1-5). It was a sign for the coach of Slovenia Uroš Zorman for a time-out after which his players reduced it to 3-5, but with great defenses Matej Mandić and in a good mood David Mandić in the attack, Croatia kept the advantage and soon increased it again to +4 (5-9).
The first half was spent in a good performance by Croatia, primarily in the defensive part, while the efficiency in the attack was at 48%. The Slovenians, on the other hand, had 58% realization in the attack, but they only scored eight field goals with three used sevens. The result after the first half hour of the game was in favor of Croatia with a score of 11-14.
Croatia started well and in the rest of the match maintained the advantage, but in the 42nd minute the Slovenians equalize 18-18. However, with two goals by Lučin and Šoštarić, Croatia returns the advantage to their side and reaches 19-22. Red card in the 48th minute he earned it Slatinek Jovicič due to a sharp start against Martinović. Until the end of the game, there was a real fight on the field, but in the end, Croatia deservedly celebrated.
Switzerland and Iceland they drew in the first meeting today with a score of 38-38. From 20:30 tonight, Sweden and Hungary meet.
The final result and the travelers to the semi-finals will be known tomorrow when the last matches of the group in which Slovenia and Iceland meet (3:30 p.m.) are scheduled. Croatia – Hungary (18:00) and Switzerland – Sweden (20:30).
