The Taliban Government confirmed that its forces performed attacks on Pakistani military positions along the northern border, calling them “retaliation operations” after the alleged Pakistan market bombing in the Afghan Province of Pactics. The number of victims is still unknown, the BBC reports.
On the other hand, the Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called the attacks “Uncharged,” claiming that the targets were civilians. He said that Pakistan would answer “stone for every brick”.
Both sides exchanged fire in the border regions of Kunar and the Kuram, using easy weapons and artillery. According to security sources, conflicts were recorded at several locations, including Angoor Add, Bajaur and Chitral.
Tensions last weeks, and Islamabad accuses Kabul for providing refuge to Pakistani Taliban (TTP), making Taliban authorities deny.
The conflicts come at the moment when the Foreign Minister of Afghan Minister resides in India, for the first time since the Taliban took power. India announced the opening of the embassy in Kabul, which caused additional tensions.
Saudi Arabia and Qatar called on both sides to calm the situation and dialogue.
