The leading team of the Eastern Conference of the NBA League, the Detroit Pistons, suffered a home defeat against the Miami Heat (112-118).
Norman Powell scored the most points in the game (36), a Miami Heat won his fourth straight against the Pistons.
The Pistons suffered their third loss in their last four games played, but with a 25-9 record they still have the second best record in the NBA behind the Western Conference leaders. of Oklahoma City (29-5).
Cade Cunningham had 31 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds for the Pistons. Powell hit seven 3-pointers, Jaime Jaquez scored 19 points off the bench, Andrew Wiggins added 17 points and Bam Adebayo had 15 points and 14 rebounds as the Heat improved to 19-15 and are in seventh place in the Eastern Conference.
Houston Rockets also extended their winning streak to four games, and Kevin Durant scored 22 points and had 11 assists in a win over to the Brooklyn Nets 120-96. It was his best performance of the season.
U Dallas Tyrese Maxey had 34 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds, leading the way Philadelphia 76ers to victory over the home team Mavericks 123-108. For the Sixers, VJ Edgecombe scored 23 points, Joel Embiid added 22, and reserve Quentin Grimes had 19 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. The Sixers improved to 18-14 and are fifth in the Eastern Conference, while the Mavericks, led by Max Christie’s 18 points, lost their fourth straight game and are 12-23. Dallas is currently 13th in the Western Conference.
Kawhi Leonard scored 20 of his 45 points in the fourth quarter, a Los Angeles extended its season-best winning streak to six games with a win over the underdog Utah (118-101) in Inglewood, California. James Harden added 20 points, Nicolas Batum scored 14, Kobe Sanders and Derrick Jones Jr. they each had 10, and John Collins grabbed 11 rebounds. The Clippers are 6-0 and have opened a seven-of-eight home streak.
Clippers were 6-21 on December 18th, then doubled that win total in less than two weeks, starting with a win over the Los Angeles Lakers on December 20th. Ivica Zubac did not play due to an ankle injury. Kyle Anderson scored 22 points for the Jazz, who were without their top four scorers: Keyonte George (illness), Lauri Markkanen (knee), Ace Bailey (hip) and Jusuf Nurkic (finger).
Jaylen Brown had 29 points and 10 rebounds, and Derrick White scored 14 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter as Boston achieved victory over the host Sacramento (120-106). Payton Pritchard added 16 points and six assists, Sam Hauser had 15 points on five 3-pointers for Boston, which won for the sixth time in its last seven games.
DeMar DeRozan had 25 points and six assists, Dennis Schroder had 18 points and seven assists, and reserve Keon Ellis added 16 points for the Kings, who lost their third straight game.
