Rain disrupted the schedule at the grass ATP 250 tournament in ‘s-Hertogenbosch in the Netherlands on Friday, so Croatian tennis player Marin Čilić and Russian Daniil Medvedev will have to continue their quarterfinal match on Saturday, at 1-1 in sets.
Both tennis players had to on Friday do double work not on the pitches because the second round matches were waiting for them. In it, Čilić was in a losing situation against the Portuguese Nuno Borges because he was behind 0-1 in the sets and 5-6 in the second set. Then he fell behind 2-5 in the tie-break, but saved everything and won the match against 30-year-old Medvedev, the third seed in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
It’s the first set lasted only half an hourand Medvedev, with two breaks, raced to an unattainable 5-1. The easily lost first set did not break Čilić, who made the first break in the match in the opening part of the second part. He led 3-1, followed by two new breaks. First, Medvedev reduced it to 2-3, and then Čilić again escaped to two differences, to 4-2, and he preserved that advantage until 1-1 in the sets.
As soon as the second set is over light rain interrupted the match. Then it started to rain more heavily over the Dutch city, and in combination with the decreasing visibility, the organizers decided that the match will not continue on Friday, but that Čilić and Medvedev will continue it on Saturday.
It is also known that the winner of that match will to play the semi-finals on Saturday against the Polish player Kamil Majchrzak who convincingly defeated the first seed, the Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, 6-4, 6-3.
In the second semi-final, the Frenchman Adrian Mannarino and the second seed, the Australian Alex de Minaur, will play.
