The US decision to pause foreign assistance seriously affects global health guessing programs for the fight against children’s paralysis, HIV and other diseases, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhan Ghebrayesus has published. He called Washington to reconsider his decision until the solution is found.

“We are worried about by some U.S. government moves that seriously affect global health,” said Tedros at the Virtual Journalists Conference in Geneva. The President Donald Trump was shortly after taking office in January froze the payments of foreign aid until the program was revised.

Tedross said that the suspension of the Presidential Intervention Plan for AIDS (Perfar) stopped the treatment of HIV, testing and prevention in 50 countries.

“Clinic were closed and health workers were released home,” he said by adding that the WHO was trying to help those states bridge the lack of antiretroviral drugs.

They are also affected by the efforts to eradicate children’s paralysis and the response to monkey goddesses, and in Myanmar, 60,000 people were left without life.

“We invite now to consider continued funding, at least until some solutions are found,” Tedros said.

With the freezing of assistance, Trump has also started withdrawing the US from the WHO on the first day of its presidency, which also distorts cooperation, especially in the fight against epidemics and flu, said Tedros.

Maria Van Kerkhove, Interim Director for Pandemic and Epidemics, said that the WHO did not receive insensions of American centers for the control and prevention of disease from approx. 24. January.

“We continue to contact our colleagues and American government agencies. We did not receive a response from them, but we will continue to address and re-hopeful that this exchange will continue,” she said.
