The sixth session of the Executive Committee of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of the President of the National Football Association of BiH, Vice Zeljković.
At the session, among other things, a decision on the appointment was made Darko Ceferin for the first man of the judicial organization of the NS BiH.
A former international referee from Slovenia will take over the leadership of the refereeing organization within the NS BiH, and his mandate includes the delegation of referees for matches of the WWin League of BiH and youth competitions, the delegation of VAR and AVAR referees, the delegation of controllers, the coordination of all activities related to education and professional training of judges and the final evaluation of referees and controllers at these league matches.
Čeferin will work on improvement and innovation within the referee organization, raising standards within the work of this organization, implementing the latest professional methods and harmonizing the system with current international practices.
NS BiH, in coordination with UEFA, entrusted Darko Čeferin (born July 11, 1968), an experienced football referee with a FIFA badge (from 2000 to 2013), to become the first operative in the refereeing organization of our house. He refereed a large number of UEFA Champions League matches and other club competitions, as well as World Cup qualifiers in 2002, 2006 and 2010. He administered justice in the qualifying matches for Euro 2004, 2008 and 2012. At the 2002 European Championship for players up to the age of 19, he refereed the final between Spain and Germany.it was announced from the NS BiH.
President of NS/FS BiH Vico Zeljković said on the occasion of the appointment of Darko Čeferin:
I am glad that in the coming period we will have the opportunity to cooperate with one of the most respected members of the judicial profession in the region. The appointment of Darko Čeferin represents an important link in strengthening the work of our referee organization. With this raises the level of standards in the trial. I am convinced that with his work, he will contribute to an even better education of the new referee staff, the professional education of young referees and the improvement of the quality of judging in all our competitions. This is a significant step in the further development of Bosnian football. I must point out that Mr. Čeferin got full autonomy in his work for the tasks entrusted to him, said Zeljkovic.
After the appointment, Darko Čeferin said:
“I thank the Executive Board of the Football Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina and President Vica Zeljković for the trust shown and the opportunity to take over the management of the NS BiH refereeing organization. I accept this position with with great responsibility and a clear intention to contribute to the further development and professionalization of trials in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ceferin says and continues:
“In cooperation with all structures within the Federation, as well as with UEFA, I will focus on raising the quality of education and training of judges, strengthening of professional work, introduction of modern methods and standards and creating conditions for the development of young refereeing talents. I am convinced that systematic and transparent work we can make significant progressboth at the level of domestic competitions, as well as in creating prerequisites for the international affirmation of judges from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I am looking forward to cooperation with all actors of the football community in BiH and I believe that we will joint efforts to contribute to a higher level of judging quality, and thus to the development of Bosnian football as a whole, it is stated in the press release of the NS BiH.
