Rosen Zhelyazkov, the candidate for the Bulgarian prime minister of the largest parliamentary group, accepted the invitation of the president of the country to form the government, after early elections in October, the seventh in the past four years, reports Hina.
Zhelyazkov, who was proposed as a candidate by the GERB-SDS group, presented to President Rumen Radev a proposal for the composition of his cabinet. Radev will forward the Decree on the election of Zhelyazkov as the President of the Bulgarian government to the parliament for comment.
“The goal of our consultations was to reach a broader consensus. We made great efforts, sometimes working until late hours, in order to reach the necessary compromises, an agreement that is very necessary,” said Zhelyazkov.
Three deputy prime ministers, Tomislav Dončev from GERB, a center-right party, Atanas Zafirov from the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and Grozdan Karadzhov from the party “There is such a nation”, as well as nineteen ministers, were proposed.
According to this proposal, the GERB-SDS coalition will have eleven ministers in the government, BSP – the United Left Party five, and the populist “There is such a people” four.
This development comes after months of negotiations in which GERB leader and former Prime Minister Boyko Borisov was rejected as a candidate to lead the government.
In the elections in October, GERB won the most votes, about 25 percent, but failed to agree on forming a government, reports Aljazeera.
