The British combat airplanes type Typhoon will fly in the airfold air missions above Poland as part of the new NATO surgery “East Guard,” the British government was confirmed by Guardian.
The planes will join forces from Denmark, France and Germany in patrolling the Polish sky, after the last week russian drones entered the Polish airspace.
The British Ministry of Defense said Typhoni would act from the RAF Coningsby base in Lincolnshire, and the support will provide them with Military Voyager airplanes to supplement fuel in the air. Until July, six Typhoon was already stationed in Poland as part of the air surveillance mission.
Starmer: Russia threatens European security
The British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the purpose of the mission is far wider than the strength of the power demonstration.
“These planes are not just a demonstration of power, but a key factor in deterring aggression, the provision of NATO airspace and the protection of our national security, as well as the security of our allies,” Starmer said.
He added that “irresponsible behavior of Russia is a direct threat to European security and violation of international law, which is why the United Kingdom will support NATO efforts in strengthening the East Wing through the East Guard.”
